The most amazing horse trail is available in the western corner of Mongolia among west Mongolian Kazakh & Tuvan nomads. This horse trail will be in style of ancient Kazakh nomadic and for its spot, we will choose classic trekking paths where you will ride through spectacular landscapes, different lifestyles and unusual customs that take you to miles away from reality!.
Itinerary for “Horse trekking tour”
Day1. Arrive in Ulgii and drive to White River valley
Arrive in Ulgii (capital of Bayan-Ulgii province). Same day drive to Altai Tavan Bogd national park which is home land of local Tuvan nomads. Tuvan nation is very famous in all over the world with being Shaman and Throat singing. This will be longer driving day and you will reach the national park and camp just next to Tuvan families in the national park.
Day2. Horse Trek to Glacier
Early morning after breakfast your team will start packing all camping equipment on special camels that made ready earlier by local Tuvan camel herders. You will start your horse riding experience with your guide. After 17 km of riding you will reach 20km long Potanin Glacier which is surrounded by five holly peaks of (Tavan Bogd Mountains) Mongolia. You will have best view to the glacier. After lunch you will have enough time to experience the glacier and you can even walk on it. You will camp just next to that glacier!
Day3. Hiking up to Malchin uul
After breakfast your guide will guide you to 4th highest peak of Mongolia “Malchin peak” which is more than 4000 meters higher from sea level. You can get easily on the top of that peak. From the top of Malchin you will have full view to Russian territory and long and breathtaking views to Kazakhstan’s and Chinese snow capped Altai mountains. Same day you will come back to your same camping spot.
Day4. White river valley and Tuvan families
Start horse riding back to the same gate of Altai Tavan Bogd national park, and have rest, relax and do camping over there.
Day5. Har sala valley & Petroglyphs
Start horse riding to the south of national park. On the way you will stop for lunch where are number of Rock Arts, Petroglyphs from ancient Turkic age. And also according to the LONELY PLANET this rock paintings are known as a biggest in Asia. At the end of the day you will reach place called “Har Salaa”. This is most beautiful spot where Tuvan Nomads spend their summer. It has a high snow mountain background but very green bottom where you will setup your tents for camping.
Day6. Bear valley beautiful camp
Early morning start horse riding towards background snow capped Mountain and cross it to Bear Valley where you will have lots of chances to see wild animals such as Black Bear, Red Dear, Marmots and Wolfs…Spend night over there.
Day7. Aksu valley and Kazakh nomads
Start horse riding, heading to south along the most beautiful white river and lakes shaped like heart and number 8. Reach Akh su Valley where western Mongolian Kazakh nomads spend their summer. Visit families see how nomads make embroideries, and milk products. you will be busy with photographing and exited by camping just next to that Kazakh nomadic families.
Day8. Back to Ulgii & Eagle hunter’s family
Drive back to Ulgii town on the way stop to see “Deer Stones” (rocks with face of human) or Bal-Bals. Arrive in Ulgii, have hot shower at your Hotel room. Dinner at one of the local restaurant. During your dinner time you will enjoy Kazakh traditional folk Music (Live)!
Day9. Departure day
Departure to Ulaanbaatar 🙂
